Experience You Can See in Every Inspection

Hi, I'm Dave Tague, owner and inspector at Tague Home & Property Inspections.

Before becoming a licensed home inspector, I spent more than 30 years working in industrial construction. That experience taught me how structures and systems come together, how things are supposed to be built, and just as importantly, where problems tend to show up.

Today, I bring that experience to every home I inspect throughout Greater Houston.

30+ years in industrial construction, now focused on home inspections throughout Greater Houston.

    Years in Construction

More Than 30 Years in Construction Before the First Home Inspection

Long before I became a home inspector, I spent more than three decades working in industrial construction.

That hands-on background gave me extensive experience with structures, building systems, construction practices, and the details that determine whether something was put together correctly.

So when I became a licensed home inspector in 2022, I wasn't learning construction for the first time. I was applying decades of experience to a new purpose: helping homebuyers and homeowners understand the property in front of them.

Since then, I've completed hundreds of home inspections throughout the Greater Houston area.

The tools may be different, but the instinct is the same: understand how something was built, recognize when something isn't right, and determine what it means.

    The Tague Approach

Experience Matters Most When It Helps You Understand the Home

A good inspection shouldn't leave you with a long list of defects and no idea what actually matters.

Dave combines a detailed inspection, decades of construction experience, and modern technology to give you something more useful: context.

Every home has issues. Some deserve immediate attention, some are routine maintenance, and others simply need monitoring. The goal is to identify what's there, document it clearly, and help you understand the difference.

    Straight Answers

A defect shouldn't sound scarier—or less important—than it really is. Dave explains significant findings in plain language and gives you the context needed to understand them.

    04INDEPENDENT

    Working for You

The job is to provide an objective picture of the property so you can make your own informed decision with confidence.

Dave also uses technology when it adds meaningful information—including thermal imaging, digital foundation elevation measurements, drone roof inspections, and licensed WDI inspections.

The tools provide more information. Experience helps make sense of it.

You should leave your inspection understanding the home better than when you arrived.
